I thought all we ever dreamed of
were childish vainglories
on falling stars and cotton-candy clouds;
rainshowers never dampened
our wielded wishes–thrust upon
this half-forgotten world of innocence.
It was all i knew of you.
Standing under the same sky
has never made me realize
that all this time,
all you wanted was a bigger galaxy of your own,
an open space that will mirror
how big and how beautiful you can become.
And this is how i’ll remember everything–
The image of you flying
in an upside-down universe
that will no longer collide
with the ground you abandoned too soon.
